The Great Wall in China

 

The Great wall would be the most popular tourists attraction in China, it was first built in 220BC by the first emperor in China, it was rebuilt and extended many times by later dynasties, they are Han and Ming dynasties, today we still can see the exist part, mostly left by Ming(1368-1644) Dynasties, The Great wall original length 6300km, as a military project to block invading from Mongolia, but now days, only about 20% still left located at different part in China, it has been protected by gorvernment as historical relics, and listed as world cultural heritage by UNESCO. There are many sections opened to pulic as they located at different area with different scenery.

1:Badaling Great wall and Juyongguan section

The 2 sections located at the same direction, northwest of Beijing downtown, 90kM, 50km respectivrly. the 2 places used to be the vital vehicular trafic from Mongolia to central China, the 4 passes of the Great Wall were built here to help the protection more efficient. (suggest hiking time 1.5-2 hours, trafic time 2 hours, cable car to reach the wall is optional for Badaling section, There is no cable car equiped at Juyongguan section, ther the car/bus parking just beside the Great Wall).

2: Great wall Mutianyu section

It located at northeast of Beijing down town 80km away, this section rebuilt by Ming Dynasty, about 400-600 years old, most of them preseved very good, this section has it’s own feature of branch wall, which was built on both sides of the main wall as protection, the guards on the wall could backwards to the branch wall for hiding and fighting. This area covered by dense woods, displays different views in the 4 seasons of the year.( 2 hours hiking suggested, cable car as optional.)

3: Jinshanling Great Wall tour

This part located out side of Beijing, in Hebei province, 140km to Beijing downtown,the same direction with Simatai section Great wall, it is the best preserved part wall, most of the wall left by Ming Dynasties, also the best view and angle to see the wall. (suggest hiking time 2-3 hours, trafic time 2.5 hours).

4: Simatai Great wall tour

This part Great Wall including night view of the Wall and water town visiting. The Great Wall built on the top of the mountain, Water town built just at foot of the mountain, the water town if copy of a beautiful town in south China. This part 120km from Being city, the same direction with Jingshanling section Great Wall (suggest visiting and hiking time 4 hours, trafic time 2 hours).

The entrance ticekts should be booked in advance, other wise you can not get in without tickets reservation, especilly during busy season.
