
The Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven was built in 1420 during a time when many other important structures were constructed in Beijing. Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties visited the Temple of Heaven to worship the God of heaven and pray for an abundant harvest(from 1420-1911).
Originally, both heaven and earth were worshiped at this temple. However, in 1530, the Temple of Earth was built at another place, and after that, the Temple of Heaven was utilized only to pay homage to heaven.
Now, the Temple of Heaven is a public park, which has traditional Chinese architecture in the center of the park, it was built in 1420, it is one of the world cultural heritages in Beijing. The Temple of Heaven covers area of 273 hectares and consists 2 parts, park area with numerous old trees and grass land, there are many local people come here to do morning exercise every day, there are many different groups to do different sport upon their own will, you can see people doing jogging, Taichi, dancing, gymnastics, and many other kinds sports….
Apart from the park area, also there is a group traditional Chinese architecture, is surrounded by the park. the build used to be the place to worship the God of Heaven by emperors, there were altogether 24 emperors came here to do worshiping ceremonies during Ming and Qing dynasties, they came here twice a year. Now days no ceremonies held here, just a public park and tourists attraction. ( need 1 more hours to walk in the Temple of Heaven)

Location:
The Temple of Heaven is located in Dongcheng District of Beijing city, just in the city center. It is a very popular public park for the local people living nearby, also the popular tourists attraction as it has rich history and traditional Chinese classical architecture complex. The Temple located about four kilometers south of the Forbidden City, about an hour walking way, or 20 minutes driving in the heaven traffic.
Public Transport:
Lines NO.5 of the Beijing Subway station at the Temple of Heaven station(Tiantan station), also many number of public buses.
Tickets:
Tickets for the temple cost CNY34($US4.8) for full price(April 1-October 31); CNY28($US4) for full price(November 1-March 31)
Tickets Hours:
For park area: April 1-October 31, is opened daily from 6:00am-9:00pm; November 1-March 31, is opened daily from 6:30am-9:00pm.
For Tourists attraction area: April 1-October 31, 8:00am-5:30pm; November 1-March 31, is opened daily from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
